We had a baby girl! Her name is Isabella Marie Kaelin, but we call her "Belle." (As in Beauty and the Beast) We had a bit of a rough labor as I was in prelabor for two days before real labor began on Friday, May 11 around 4:30 pm. I still didn't want to go to the hospital yet though, so we went to eat at BBC with Dad and Kac. After about an hour there, I finally told Dave we have to go to the hospital NOW! So we went to the hospital (for the third time in 3 days) and they admitted me. Dave called me the exorcist every time I had a contraction. I was so happy to have the epidural! Labor actually progress pretty fast once we were at the hospital. Unfortunately there was meconium in the sack, so Belle's stomach had to be drained when she was first born which made her quite the cranky baby for the first few days! We still loved every ounce of her though! She was born at 3:43 am on May 12, 2012, the day before Mother's Day. So we spent Mother's Day in the hospital with our precious baby girl.
Then when we were released we were told she had high bilirubin levels, she was jaundiced pretty severely. So the next day we began bililight treatments for three days, 24 hours a day. I could only take her out to feed her and change her diaper. I slept on the couch next to her at night. It was the saddest yet most peaceful three days. I was able to spend 7 weeks at home with her, and she didn't like anything other than my arms until that 7th week! She was a cluster feeder and constantly hungry, but that's why she has grown so quickly! At her two month checkup she was in the 95% percentile in height, 85% percentile in weight and 90th percentile in head circumference. She is a growing girl!
She has been going to daycare since her 7th week and she seems to have adjusted really well. But there is nothing like her smile when I pick her up at the end of the day! It's nice to know she knows me and is so happy to see me!
So she is 3 months this coming Sunday, time flies and she changes every day! She grips toys now, rolls on her side, laughs and smiles and squeals - especially when Daddy is being silly. She really is such a joy in our life and I really can't remember what life was like without her!
Belle was also baptized this past Sunday by Father Lyons, the priest that baptized myself and all of my cousins. She wore her Daddy's heirloom baptism gown. Then we had a big party for her afterwards. She smiled when Dave told her that today was all about her! She was worn out though as she ended up sleeping from 8 pm to 7 am that night! That's never happened! Afterwards though we are back to her typical schedule of around 10 to 3 or 4, wake up and eat, then sleep for two more hours. At least I get some decent blocks of sleep!
Well that's a decent little summary of what has been going on, and I will try to blog more frequently as I really want a reminder of her life. Especially since she changes and grows so quickly!
